Spacegear Within the framework of a contract awarded by ESA, STAM has designed, manufactured and tested a drivetrain system to actuate electrically driven car components (very small applications) named SPACEGEAR. The research work associated to this development was mainly related to the design of a new configuration, which was miniaturised with respect to previous developments.

Robotics STAM is also involved in the development of a special gear motor based on the nutating gear principle. The integrated design of the gearbox and of the electric motor will further exploit the peculiar features of the system. In particular size and weight shall be further reduced. The ideal application of the system is in robotics.
