Energy & Sustainability
STAM supports its clients and partners to run more sustainable and energy-efficient operations, and meet the changing expectations of customers, communities and stakeholders at EU and international scale. Our activities span across the different areas of activities with special focus on manufacturing, process industry and the built environment.
STAM support clients and partners to imagine, plan and build their own sustainable futures, shaping and adapting their business using new concepts, methodologies, tools and technologies. From scarcity of resources to climate change, from emerging regulations, policy frameworks to financial risks, we use insights into the future and macro-trends to help our clients fostering their business while transforming waste onto a valuable resource with a life cycle perspective.
In the last ten years we have developed solutions for an energy efficient built environment including digital twins, monitoring and control systems at building/district/city scale as well as comfort monitoring systems which can be integrated within performance based approaches and smart-contract frameworks. We have developed proprietary solutions and cloud-based BIM-platforms that can be adapted to manage energy assets and enable continuous commissioning, including renewable energy installations.
STAM has experience with life cycle assessments and life cycle costing within complex and multi-stakeholders projects. We have developed agent based modelling tools that allow to simulate complex value chains, their resilience and the impact of policy frameworks on their sustainability. We have pioneered the use of micro-algae and developed pilot installations that allow to test and validate innovative solutions for our clients and partners.
A significant part of STAM business is focused on design, prototype development, modelling and digital twins of energy and resource efficient solutions. We work with businesses to bring circular economy principles to life in their organisations through test cases and pilot projects to gain evidence and generate commitment. This can mean analysing the supply chains of our customers, optimising waste and transforming it in secondary raw materials as well as bringing in new productive efficiencies.
We are continuously researching new methodologies and technologies. This includes renewable energy technologies, hydrogen, carbon capture and utilisation, small modular nuclear reactors, modelling of processes and energy flows, to mention a few.
